Colchester-Brightlingsea The Railway Tavern

Brewpub based in Brightlingsea which is just outside Colchester. Interestingly given the name of the pub there is no Railway in Brightlingsea, though I assume there was at some point; Brightlingsea seems like the kind of place where old people go to die so they probably don't have much need of one, I'd imagine about a quarter of the population live in retirement homes (thats probably an exageration but you get the picture).

I've been the the Railway Tavern itself twice but tried most of their ales at Colchester Real Ale and Cider Festival. The pub's quite nice but has a very small drinking area, both occaions I've had to sit on a bench outside to drink my ales. Given the length of the corridor that you walk down to get to the tolilet I think I've either not noticed a big part of the pub or that area is shut of because where the brewery is.

JAY'S TOILET REVIEW:(actually done by Maj)

I think these were cold, dank toliets, very old fashoned, the kind that get infested with flys during the summer, and if I remember rightly this is the pub with interesting urinals. They look like ordinary urinal bowls but when you piss in them you notice that the sink-hole doesn't connect to a u-bend and flow into a drain like normal urinals, there are no pipes at all, the piss just falls straight through the hole and into a gutter on the floor(or on to your shoes if you're unlucky), kind of makes you wonder why they bothered having urinals at all, you could just piss into the gutter.
